Radiant Orchid Pantone Color of the Year 2014

There was tangerine, emerald, honeysuckle, and turquoise. Now, there’s radiant orchid - a captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones.   Since 2000, Pantone has picked a “color of the year” and for 2014, the color of the year is Radiant Orchid.  According to Pantone, radiant orchid blooms with confidence, evokes beguiling charm, and emanates joyful warmth.

Started as a printing company in the 1950s, Pantone provides color palettes for graphic industries, interior design, and fashion textiles through a specialized color matching system.  What probably started as a marketing strategy has now become a small tradition - every year, Pantone picks one color that tents to be in sync with the fashion and beauty communities. Sure, Pantone cannot tell us our favorite color but it can spark the imagination.  More recently, Sephora has teamed with Pantone to release “color of the year” collections so I’m looking forward to the new releases (I don’t know about you, but a muted pink and purple toned lipstick sounds like the perfect addition to my lipstick collection).

Previous colors have been all kinds of bright, so Radian Orchid is the perfect shade with the perfect balance for everyone - cosmetic companies, start taking notes for your spring and summer collections!

Stay Pretty, Mackenzie M.

I am SO excited for this. I can see all the nail polishes, blushes and lip colors already! I was really happy about emerald in 2013, but this really opens the door for beauty creativity!
