Pretty Random - Lifestyle Beauty: Lauren Conrad Beauty Book Review

Pretty Random - Lifestyle Beauty Post

We all know beauty is more than makeup.  Our Pretty Random posts focus on lifestyle topics that are still related to beauty and make for a lovely (and informative!) read.

Book Review - Beauty by Lauren Conrad
Miranda's Notes:

Let's start with a confession - a guilty pleasure of mine is to watch reality tv shows, and yes, that includes everything from The Hills to Real Housewives of Whatever to the bestest singing/dancing competition to Bridezillas (or anything wedding related truly, if it's got a wedding dress and cameras, I'm watching) -  I could go on forever about why I watch these shows (and why I shouldn't watch these shows).  But we're here to talk beauty - enter the lovely Lauren Conrad and her book.  Yes, I may have felt a bit guilty saying "I want to read LC's book" because after all, she's a reality tv person.  Once I actually received the book as a birthday gift (shout out here to my sis!), I knew I truly enjoyed the content and Lauren Conrad's advice.

Beauty by Lauren Conrad includes general tips on a range of topics - the book discusses harmful chemicals in daily products, exercising and staying healthy, how to apply foundation and concealer  nail art tips, hair style tutorials, and creating different looks for various occasions.   Rather than focusing solely on beauty products, Conrad includes advice on a variety of issues and includes funny anecdotes about her life and experiences.

The book provides basics information which is best suited for beginners but is also a great refresher for those with more knowledge. I found it odd that Conrad did not specifically identify brands, but by the final chapters, the advice felt more personable and able to be adapted for different needs. Overall, the pictures are wonderful and feature several models of various backgrounds.  My favorite portions were the last chapters where Conrad created era-inspired beauty looks.

Her effortless style and tutorials translate into sophisticated looks suited for everyone and for every day.  I absolutely adore Beauty by Lauren Conrad (still feel strange saying that out loud hehe) and highly recommend the book for a fun, relaxing read, full of pretty pictures.

Tips on how to achieve the Lauren Conrad eyeliner shape and makeup tutorial
Beauty by Lauren Conrad - also include hair tutorials, my favorite is the effortless top knot
Tutorial on creating a 60s inspired minimalist look  - 60s makeup and 60s hair style
Nail art tutorials include basic designs - polka dot nail art, rose nail art, and heart nail art
